The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of EHS legislation, hands-on experience managing high-risk environments, and a strong track record of driving safety culture and regulatory compliance in dynamic, heavy-duty operational settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the site-wide EHS function, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with corporate and legal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and programs specific to heavy industrial operations (e.g., lifting, hot works, confined spaces, machinery safety).
  • Conduct and oversee high-risk risk assessments, hazard identification, and control strategies tailored to complex engineering and heavy equipment operations.
  • Manage serious incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Oversee the review and approval of RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) submitted by contractors and internal departments.
  • Lead internal and external EHS audits, ensure site readiness for regulatory inspections, and address non-compliance issues effectively.
  • Deliver high-impact training and toolbox talks, including onboarding, refresher training, and site-specific inductions for workers and contractors.
  • Drive safety leadership engagement at all levels, promoting a proactive culture of accountability and hazard reporting.
  • Analyze EHS data and trends, produce detailed reports and present KPIs to senior management.
  • Oversee environmental compliance efforts related to emissions, waste management, spill response, and sustainability initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 7+ years' EHS experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within heavy industry (construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, etc.).
  • Strong command of local and EU safety and environmental legislation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-risk environments with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • In-depth understanding of Permit-to-Work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO), lifting operations, confined space entry, and machinery safeguarding.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, Degree/MSc in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
Desirable
  • Experience with ISO 45001 / 14001 / 9001 integrated management systems.
