An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Project Accounting Team Lead to join our client, a leading science and research organisation in South Dublin, on a 7-month contract.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Project Accounting Team will be joining the organisation at an exciting time as it undergoes a finance transformation process.

As Project Accounting Team Lead, you will be responsible for supervising a team of four, ensuring robust financial control of the organisation's project accounts, and implementing financial policies. You will also oversee the closing of the teams specific account, as well as financial reporting, audits, budget management, and team leadership.

This is a hybrid position with strong potential to become permanent after the initial 7-month contract. Onsite parking is available, and the location is well serviced by public transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate financial control of project accounts while maintaining compliance with the organisation's policies.
  • Oversee the closing of specific accounts for the team.
  • Coordinate the team's workflow to ensure all deliverables are completed within strict deadlines.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of periodic financial reports.
  • Ensure the approval and implementation of amendments to the accounting system related to project accounts, including journal adjustments, budget modifications, and other necessary updates.
  • Review journals to ensure the research ledger aligns with cost statements and financial reports.
  • Supervise the preparation of audit files and manage external audits, ensuring all required audit reports are delivered on time.
  • Review and approve budget checks in accordance with grant agreements.

Key Requirements:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant with a minimum of four years post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in financial systems and reporting tools.
