Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.
Job Description:
Walking Tour Leaders, (2 positions).
Accredited training will be provided to participants, for example:Walking Leadership training, Cycle Leader Training, Disability Inclusion training, Community First Aid Responder training (including defibrillator operation), Active Leadership and Code of Ethics training.
Opportunities to complete specialised training such as: Hillwalking & Lowland Leader training, ACTIVATOR pole training, Nordic Pole training, and National Tour Guide training may also arise.
Duties:Supporting the organisation of community events on the Grand Canal and Barrow Blueway including the Kildare Annual Walking Festival, Blueway Cycle events, community walking programmes and a range of annual events such as European Week of Sport, National Walking Day, National Social Inclusion Week, and Operation Transformation walks.
Supporting the Kildare Sports Partnership Water Sports Hub Coordinator with the organisation and supervision of a variety of Water Sport events at the Monasterevin and Athy Water Sports Hubs as required throughout the year.Some occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
Responsibilities:Support the delivery of community-based sporting events as provided by Kildare Sports Partnership on the Grand Canal and Barrow Blueway in Co. Kildare.
Assist the staff of Kildare Sports Partnership in the promotion and delivery of outdoor activities and community events in Kildare.
Assist the Kildare Sports Partnership Water Sports Hub co-ordinator in Athy and Monasterevin as required.
Assisting with leadership of walking groups.
Assisting with leadership of cycling groups.
Attendance at team meetings and event briefings.
Any other duties on the Grand Canal and Barrow Blueway as agreed with the Coordinator of Kildare Sports Partnership and the Enterprise Skills Programme.
Person Specification:Minimum Requirements:
Meet the eligibility requirements for Community Employment (CE).Be energetic and motivated with an interest in physical activity and outdoor activity.
Have an interest in the development of the Grand Canal and Barrow Blueway in County Kildare.
Be committed to helping with the promotion of outdoor activity and water-based activity along the Grand Canal Blueway in County Kildare.
Be prepared to undertake training provided to help them fulfil their role in a professional manner.
Commit to working at weekends or evenings on occasion if required.
Have a full Licence and own Transport.
