Data Center Engineering Operations Area Manager, Data Center Engineering Operations
The Data Center Engineering Operations Area Manager (DCEO), with be responsible for data center engineering operations within an Amazon Data Center including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting.
Responsibilities:- On-site management of facility managers, shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices and procedures.
- Primary responsibility for availability zone of Data Centers (2-4 locations).
- Participates in strategic planning projects.
- Conducts financial analysis and contributes to financial decisions.
- Typically manages 5 or more direct reports, manager of managers.
- Negotiates and rolls out contracts and space.
- Oversee the build out of facility-specific infrastructure in existing locations.
- Participates in recruiting efforts.
- Training and development of staff.
- Executes vision and goals for the team or department.
- Conduct Project Management for multiple sites.
- Creates work plans and sets priorities to meet goals on budget and on time
- Prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Operate and manage both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
- May assist in the design and build out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
- Responsible for asset and inventory management.
- Assist in recruiting efforts
- Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met.

- 4+ years of relevant work experience. & 2+ years of management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills & strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling
- Data Center systems include incidents/events, problems, changes, monitoring, problem escalation/notification/resolution and all other aspects of Data Center support.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, voice/data, chiller systems and generators. To ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment, deployment of new equipment, such as building racks, cabling, and other tasks as necessary.
