Engineering Project Manager

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to join the Capital Projects (CAPEX) Team at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Cork. This is a key contracting role responsible for delivering complex engineering projects focused on equipment upgrades and investments within tablet manufacturing operations, including compression and coating technologies.

This position offers the opportunity to lead full lifecycle project execution in a GMP-regulated environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic capital investments over an 18-month period.

• Lead and manage multiple capital projects from initiation through to handover, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, and compliance.
• Conduct front-end studies with end-users to assess needs and define optimal technical solutions.
• Develop comprehensive business cases, cost estimates, schedules, and justifications to support capital funding requests.
• Manage all phases of project execution: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and qualification.
• Oversee project validation activities in line with regulatory and internal standards.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless execution.
• Drive robust project scheduling and cost control practices with transparent reporting to stakeholders.
• Ensure project changes are rigorously managed through change control systems.
• Foster a strong safety culture throughout all phases of project execution.
• Apply knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and EHS regulations to ensure compliant project delivery.

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience managing capital projects in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience across the full project life cycle on the client side, from concept through to commissioning and closeout.
• Strong understanding of tablet manufacturing technologies (e.g., tablet press, compression, coating).
• Proficient in working with electronic change management systems and quality documentation processes.
• Proven track record managing cross-functional teams and external vendors in a GMP setting.
• In-depth understanding of EHS and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Expertise in project controls including scope, cost, and schedule management.
