About the role:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for partnering with key operational & finance personnel, analyzing manufacturing cost information and executing cost accounting month-end close activities.
Responsibilities:
Role Overview:
- Manage and monitor cost data, including master data, for accuracy and proper linkage to management reporting, legal entity analysis and corporate reporting requirements.
- Analysis and explanation of manufacturing variances.
- Freight variance analysis & update of standard cost.
- Generate reports to support cost accounting and FP&A with logistics costs.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting (both balance sheet and income statement) that complies with Corporate Accounting Policies
- Provide local input requirements into global work process designs and ensure work processes are documented and kept up to date.
- Ensure timely completion of SOX controls. Confirm that other functions, like Supply Chain and Manufacturing, have completed their applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Participate in and/or lead special (ad hoc) projects, as needed, including supporting the implementation of S/4.
- Support plant or business-related audits and local statutory matters.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting (or local equivalent).
- Professional certifications of ACCA/CIMA/ACA preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a multinational manufacturing company, preferred.
- Previous accounting and/or operational finance experience in industrial chemicals and publicly traded companies preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with SAP environments, S/4 HANA, including Material Ledger, a plus
- Second language preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage various levels of management
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate leadership skills capable of inspiring and influencing others
- Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel
- Ability to learn new systems quickly, a plus
